Victoria Elizabeth Hearne was born in Austin, Texas, on February 13, 1946, and grew up in a military family in Texas, Louisiana, and Mississippi. Having written poetry since her childhood, she studied writing and received a B.A. in English from the University of California, Riverside, in 1969.
